Top Workout Tips To Get A Six Pack Of Abs

If you’re looking to get a six pack of abs, following the right type of workout program will be important.  We already discussed some of the most important foods to eat when creating a diet for six pack abs, but adding a sound workout program to that will help take your results that much further.

You really can’t just have one or the other – both diet and workouts are going to work together to give you the most optimal results from your efforts.

Here are some workout tips to help you get a six pack of abs.

Keep Your Weight Lifting Intense

The first step to create a six pack ab workout is to be sure you are keeping your weight lifting workouts intense. This is going to be far superior in terms of total fat burning than if you are doing slow-long sessions.  Take slightly shorter rest periods when moving from set to set, but not so short that it really influences how much weight you are able to lift. You still must lift heavy to maintain your lean muscle mass.

Balance Cardio With Rest

Next, while you may have the inclination to go out and do loads of cardio, fight this feeling.  Too much cardio can actually prevent you from getting a six pack of abs as it tends to make the body hold on to body fat.

Further, too much cardio will make it nearly impossible to recover from your weight lifting workouts, so progress there will suffer as well.

All around, overdoing cardio is just a bad idea. Keep it to 2-4 sessions a week, preferably a combination between HIIT and moderate paced training.

Consider Moving Away From Traditional Forms of Cardio Training

Another thing you may want to think about is actually  moving completely away from traditional forms of cardio.  More and more people are starting to see fantastic results from doing bodyweight type of circuit training workouts that tone and burn fat at the same time.

If you’re interested in this approach, I’d recommend taking a look at Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training program as it’s designed around this concept.

Take Periodic Workout Breaks

Finally, make sure you’re also taking periodic breaks from your six pack workout program.  The body does need rest every once in a while, and after an extended time of pushing hard, it’s going to start feeling overly fatigued and make it even harder to get results.

I’d strongly recommend taking one week off every 6-8 weeks of hard training.  Not only will your body thank you, but you’re mind will enjoy the time away from the gym as well.  Then when you come back, you’ll be fresh and ready to go (many people often find they’re stronger after such a break too – an added bonus!)

So be sure you’re taking these workout tips in mind as you go about reaching for your goal of getting a six pack of abs.  It doesn’t have to be an impossible goal provided you have an appropriate training program to follow.
