Top Three Exercises For A Six Pack

If you’re looking to get a six pack, there are likely many different things you’re doing – or at least hopefully there are. You need to be focused on making smart adjustments to your fat loss diet, going through a heavy weight lifting program that is going to maximally stimulate your muscles, and doing cardio training in a smart manner that will help speed weight loss without putting you at risk for overtraining.

But, what about ab exercises? Where do they fit in?

Abdominal exercises are going to be important for not only helping to define the muscles in the abdominal core, but also to strengthen the spinal column so you reduce your risk of injury and can perform the other lifting activities better.

Here are three great six pack ab exercises to perform regularly .

The Plank

The first exercise that will strengthen not only the abs, but the core as well is the plank. When doing this exercise you want to make sure your hips do not drop or rise though, but rather that you maintain a flat position with the body similar to a table top throughout the motion.

Weighted Decline Sit-Ups

Next are weighted decline sit-ups. With the additional weight and the fact you will be working against gravity, you’ll really see a bump in the strength gains you receive from this movement.

Just one thing to keep in mind is that this could actually cause you to build muscle. If you’re looking for a very slim waisted look, it may be something you don’t want to get into as much.

Squats On A Bosu Ball

Finally, the last exercise that will work the abs as well as the quads are squats on a bosu ball.  This is a great exercise because since you will be unstabilized, your abdominals will have to work extra hard to maintain balance, providing a greater challenge throughout the movement.

So, consider adding one or all of these exercises to your workout regularly.  If you do, you’ll see results fast if you combine it with a good diet and the rest of your workout program is up to par.
