The Best Weight Loss Diet Plan? How To Plan Your Diet For Success
By: Shannon Clark

Every single day we are being bombarded by new weight loss diet plans available. Perhaps you look towards the main stream market and find diets such as the South Beach Diet, the Zone Diet, the Bernstein Diet, or the Abs diet, or maybe you’re with a personal trainer and they have set you up on a diet plan they feel will be the magic ticket to shedding those last stubborn 10 pounds.
Whatever the case, there is one important question you must ask yourself if you want to get results. Is this weight loss diet plan good for me?
What works for one person may not even come close to working for another, so differentiating between this will be absolutely critical.
Here are the questions to ask yourself before selecting any chosen weight loss diet plan.
1. Will This Weight Loss Diet Plan Work With My Schedule?
The very first thing you must ask yourself is whether this diet plan will work with your schedule. This is by far and away the single biggest concern I get from individuals who are struggling with their diet plan. The diet calls for them to eat such and such a food and a certain time – but they can’t. They are working, they are busy with school, or they just don’t want to eat 6 meals a day around the clock.
Whatever your situation, know that adherence is #1 on the list of success factors that is needed for a diet to work well. If you have a strong feeling you aren’t going to be able to stick with that diet for more than a few days, it’s time to abandon ship.
Find something else – something that you could foresee yourself actually doing. This is important.
2. Do I Find The Foods On This Weight Loss Diet Plan Enjoyable?
The second aspect that you must think about is whether or not you find the foods on the diet plan enjoyable.
Okay, so no, you aren’t going to be able to eat your grandma’s special cream glazed cake on any diet plan out there – except potentially the Cheat To Lose program, but that said, that doesn’t mean you can’t eat other foods you enjoy – healthy foods that do have nutritional value.
If you’re a carb-o-holic, you don’t need me to tell you that a very low carb diet is going to feel like some form of Chinese torture to you.
Don’t do it.
You have to be sensible when selecting the diet program you do. There’s no point going onto a diet that you know you aren’t going to enjoy because you will cheat. I can almost guarantee it.
3. Does This Weight Loss Diet Plan Allow For Some ‘Wiggle Room’
The third thing you need to answer ‘yes’ to is that this diet does allow you to have some wiggle room. Basically, if a diet is so strict that if you go out you can’t even have one single appetizer or your diet will be thrown off, you may want to reconsider this plan.
It’s one thing if you’re preparing for a professional bodybuilding or figure competition – then strict is the name of the game, but if you’re just trying to get to a goal weight, 90/10 is the name of your game.
90% ‘on the meal plan’, 10% wiggle room. One treat every non and again is not going to kill you provided the diet is sound to begin with.
So ask yourself these questions before you hop onto the next weight loss diet plan you find. In many cases, disaster can be prevented simply by thinking the diet plan choice through beforehand and making sure it absolutely meets what you’re looking for.
If you’d prefer a Done-For-You diet, here is one by Empowered Nutrition that I would rank as quite well put together.
